Spacin' Landscape Painting

Spacin'

I started writing songs when I was a child. Most of the time, a song would just come to me and I didn't know what to do with it. I had a keyboard and a tape recorder and I would make mixes of my own songs and stuff I taped off of the radio. I still have the tapes, they are charming.

I picked up a full drum kit at an auction when I was 11 and my older brother and I started a band called Nixon's Addiction. It was just the two of us and we only knew how to play a little bit of "California über alles" by The Dead Kennedys. Fast forward a couple decades and a handful of bands, I found my life-long jam partners in Birds of Maya (we've been at it for 17+ years now).

Some aspect of those early years of playing around (writing songs, recording, experimenting and collaging) has stayed with me my whole life. I've continued to record and write songs constantly though 99% of them never get heard by anyone but me. On January 1, 2011, I decided to let the world see what I was up to and I released some music under the moniker Spacin'.
